Touch Yourself
Insert OOC babble here.
[setting: that fateful rooftop]
*Choirmaster's mother listens intently to Dot's offer, patiently. Then, after a short pause, she gives her an angelic smile.*
Mother: Why, Ms. Warner, that's assuming that I want him to live.
*Choirmaster's eyes widen even more, and he motions as if to speak. Instead, however, he coughs up a little blood.*
Mother: *turning to brush more hair out of his face* I wanted him to torment that man until the end of time. He only succeeded for thirty years. So, the question is... are you a failure, my child?
Choirmaster: *shakes his head*
*His mother smiles and taps her cheek as if she were trying to decide between chunky or smooth peanut butter.*
Mother: Such a tough question. *Pause* I think, this time, I'll let him live. It might've been a fluke that he failed this time around. One more time, though...
Evil Dot: *staring* Uh...
Mother: Of course, there's one more thing, Ms. Warner. You offered me a Deus Ex Machina. How is it you know that I'm not his Deus Ex Machina?
*Dot blinks once, and in that span of time, Choirmaster's mother places her hands on his chest. An audible vibration begins, and his wounds quickly seal up. His form also begins to shift-- his wings disappear, and his hair turns a purple-highlighted shade of black.*
*Then, she picks him up in her arms-- easily, as if he weighed as much as a feather --and turns to face Evil Dot, smiling like an angel again.*
Mother: It was very nice talking to you, Ms. Warner. Perhaps we should get together for a cup of tea sometime.
Evil Dot: W-wait... I don't even know who you are!
Mother: *smiling* My name is Aria. Until we meet again...
*And with that, she leaps off the edge of the building, landing easily on the ground. Aria walks off into the streets of EGC, carrying Choirmaster in her arms...*
[setting: the Rectory]
*Koe sits on his bed, pulling on a pair of socks. Next to his bed is a large bedside table, and on it is a simple lamp... and a large collection of framed pictures. One is of a young Koe, missing his wings and horns, arms around a young girl. Her hair is a reddish shade of brown, and her eyes are bright red.*
*There are several more pictures with this girl in it, at varying stages of life-- early adolescence, late adolescence, and finally, the girl as an adult. She wears a black leather skirt, a black leather top, and a red tie around her neck.*
*In other words, it's Mack.*
*Koe finishes putting his socks on, and glances over at the little shrine of pictures. He smiles, but it is a wistful, sad smile...*
*Then, there is a knock on the door.*
Voice: Father Koe, it's about time.
Koe: All right, I'm coming!
*He slips on his shoes, and leaves.*
[setting: St Mary's Hospital]
Koe: How is he... uh, it doing?
Nurse: *shakes her head* We don't know how to treat such a creature. One of the doctors injected it with morphine on a whim, and that seems to be helping with the pain, but it's making it very sleepy.
Koe: Is it Catholic?
Nurse: Not that I know of. It's not exactly talking theology right now.
Koe: All right... I'll go in and talk to it. Maybe when the morphine starts wearing off, it'll be a little more conscious.
*He opens the door to the hospital room and goes in. In a bed, or rather, in a large pan on the bed, is Hikaru. An IV feed is in its one formed arm, but aside from that, there's no sign of significant treatment.*
Koe: *sitting down in a chair next to the bed* Uh, hi. I'm the local priest, and--
Hikaru: *mumbling*
Koe: Huh? What's that? *leans in closer to hear*
Hikaru: *faintly* ...failed... her... failed... Mack...
*Koe nearly jumps in his seat.*
Koe: Mack? You know Mack? *to himself* Maybe it's not the same Mack.
Hikaru: *turns its head slightly, eyes opening a little* Mack... sei..fu..
Koe: *blinking* Seifukusha no Shaado?
*Hikaru nods.*
Koe: That... that was her title.
Hikaru: In... the red...
Koe: *nods* Yes. The Red Magic Army.
Hikaru: How... do you... know Mack?
Koe: ....I'm her brother.
Yay for long posts! Though most of this is redundant if you'd been paying extra special attention during the Keys segment, but all's well that repeats well.
