Relationship Polygony
Thanks to my brother, I've figured out a way to recover from being monkey wrenched.

*blows kiss in the direction of highly embarrassed younger sibling*


(Ijishi, exterior. Dives is still walking with determination. He passes an alleyway and pauses as he hears a snippet of conversation...)

*off-screen* ...I guess it was a mistake, after all, trying to get the two of them together.

Adam (off-screen, dryly): What did you expect? He can't stand her, she's terrified of him. They've buried their real feelings too deep for even you to reach.

Dives (mutters): None of my business...

(As he tries to move forward, Adam is suddently right in front of him.)

Adam (smirks): You're here? Good. Saves me the trouble of tracking you down.

(Dives lashes out at Adam with the dagger hidden in his sleeve, but Adam sidesteps easily, grabs Dives' arm, and twists it hard.)

Adam: Not bad, but I'm afraid you'll have to do better if you want to catch me by surprise.

(Dives tries to escape, but Adam twists even harder, causing Dives to grit his teeth in pain.)

*emerges from behind him* Be nice, Adam. You're only supposed to restrain him, not break his arm.

(An absolutely HATEFUL looks comes over Dives' face.)

Dives (furious): YOU! What the hell do you want now?

*shakes her head* Is that anyway to talk to an RL? One who saved your very soul, in fact?

Dives (bitterly): I would have rather gone to Hell.

*smiles sadly* That's what they all say, at first.

(The Authoress waves carelessly, and Dives is bound with rough rope before he vanishes.)

Adam (crosses his arms): You do realize that this so-called plan of yours has a huge potential of backfiring.

*shrugs* Works for me either way.

Adam (shakes head): You even take ambivalence to an extreme...

*small smile* Wouldn't be me otherwise.

Shinra HQ. Rufus is seated at his desk, brooding prettily, and plucking at a flower, while the Turks are frantically trying to sweep up the petal-covered floor.

Rufus (depressed): She love me...loves me not...loves me...not...loves...not...

Elena (irritated): Stop wasting your time, boss. Why don't you just ask her out?

Rufus, however, doesn't hear her, and just continues his mantra.

Reeves: Forget it, Elena. You know how the boss is. Plenty of bluster, but lacking in guts to really do anything.

This gets Rufus' attention. He places the flower down and glares at Reeves.

Rufus (dangerous): Did you say something, Reeves?

Reeves (not in the least intimidated): You're the CEO of Shinra! You've got an entire army at your disposal! But you can't handle possible rejection? What stops you from just marrying her, hm?

And a light bulb goes off in Rufus' mind.

Rufus (slowly): Yes...what stops me...?

And in the shadows, a figure holding a microphone [1] can be seen sneaking away surreptitiously...

[1] The Subliminal Nagging Microphone, used to plant suggestions in other people's minds. One of the Authoress' favorite weapons.
